UNLOCK Blockchain Forum adds DarkMatter as Key 1 Sponsor

UNLOCK Blockchain Forum announced DarkMatter, an international cyber security specialist headquartered in the UAE, as its KEY 1 sponsor for the forthcoming UNLOCK Blockchain Forum. The Forum, being organised by Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group, is set to take place January 14 - 15, 2018 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Dubai International Financial Centre.

The UNLOCK Blockchain Forum will be the first MENA Asia Blockchain Forum to be held in the emirate, bringing together approximately 400 attendees from across MENA and parts of Asia. The Forum aims to assemble blockchain experts and industry players to discuss where the technology can be implemented, how it will disrupt businesses and usher in a sharing economy; while showcasing Dubai’s achievements in spearheading blockchain implementation and innovation globally.

Blockchain is not a traditional cybersecurity solution, however it offers an infrastructure of transparency, event tracking, and cryptography, thereby improving security where it is lacking. In addition, analysts at the Pentagon believe blockchain technology could be used as a cyber security shield, preventing mega hacks, tampering, and cyber hijackings of vehicles, aircraft or satellite.

Blockchain technology still has its vulnerabilities, particularly with respect to what are known as permissible blockchains. Public blockchains could also be susceptible to attack as quantum computing becomes prevalent, which could allow hackers to quickly unravel cryptographic encryptions.
