CoinMENA has become the first digital asset platform to go live in Jordan's Central Bank regulatory sandbox, JoRegBox, offering Jordanian users compliant trading, custody, and local payment integration under CBJ oversight.
CoinMENA has become the first digital asset platform to go live within Jordan’s Regulatory Sandbox, bringing digital asset trading and custody services to users under Central Bank of Jordan oversight.
The platform said it has officially commenced operations within the Central Bank of Jordan’s Regulatory Sandbox, known as JoRegBox, allowing users in the Kingdom to access digital asset services under the central bank’s oversight.
The launch enables Jordanian users to buy, sell and store digital assets through a locally integrated platform, with access to local currency transfers and payment infrastructure.
CoinMENA said its entry into JoRegBox is designed to provide a compliant environment for digital asset activity while supporting Jordan’s broader push toward financial innovation under its Economic Modernisation Vision.
The initiative comes as regulators across the region develop frameworks for digital assets and fintech services, with Jordan seeking to expand its position as an innovation-driven financial market.
CoinMENA brings regulatory experience from other MENA markets to the initiative. The company holds licenses from the Central Bank of Bahrain and Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA).
For users in Jordan, the platform will integrate local bank transfers and instant payment infrastructure, including CliQ, enabling access to digital assets through Jordanian payment rails.
The launch also represents a return to the founders’ home market for CoinMENA, which was established in 2020 by Jordanian entrepreneurs Dina Sam’an and Talal Tabbaa.
The founders said they are working directly with the Central Bank of Jordan to develop a digital asset ecosystem tailored to local users while maintaining regulatory and security standards.
“Becoming the first regulated digital asset platform admitted into the regulatory sandbox in Jordan is a historic moment for both CoinMENA and the region,” Sam’an and Tabbaa said.
They added that the milestone carries a responsibility to empower users while operating within Jordan’s regulatory framework, with the company’s focus remaining on building a transparent and secure environment for participation in digital finance.
The CoinMENA Jordan Regulatory Sandbox becomes part of Jordan’s supervised testing environment for financial innovation. The sandbox allows participating companies to test innovative financial products and services under regulatory oversight before broader market deployment.
The company said its participation is intended to support Jordan’s transition toward a more digitally driven financial system while giving local users access to digital asset services through regulated channels.
For CoinMENA, the Jordan launch also expands its regional footprint as regulators across the Middle East and North Africa continue to shape formal frameworks for digital assets.
