Tunis Stock Exchange developing Blockchain investment exchange

In a recent article published in LeeconomisteMaghrebin.com based out of Tunis,  Bilel Sahnoun, CEO of Tunisian Stock exchange announced that they are developing a new Digital Exchange utilizing Blockchain Technology. He states in the interview that this project will be a huge opportunity for the development of the financial sector especially utilizing technologies such as Blockchain. 

The exchange will focus on providing funding for startups as an alternative investment platform. He explains, “We are launching this alternative investment platform given that startups are considered high risk investments as only one in 100 startups succeed to grow. However if a startup becomes large enough then the returns are huge.”

According to Sahnoun, “The Tunis Stock Exchange is partnering with international investors who are interested in alternative investment market and the network will incorporate stakeholders from different sectors which will require new regulations and legislations. 

The project is currently under review and development,  with the goal of making it ready to launch by end of 2020.

Tunisia has been working on Blockchain technology in the past,  one example included interbank solutions, as well as previous discussions that Tunisian Central bank was interested in launching  digital currency.
