Nike recently launched Swoosh, a new metaverse marketplace platform that aims to create an "inclusive digital community" for athletes and Nike customers.
This blockchain-powered platform allows users to connect with other athletes and consumers who are interested in virtual products and immersive experiences.
Currently in beta testing, members of Nike will be able to collect virtual footwear and apparel products to use on the platform. In some cases, users will even be able to access real products or events.
Later this month, Nike plans to launch Swoosh in diverse communities in the US and Europe. The company has announced that it will release its first collection in 2023, with input from the community.

Swoosh will also hold a challenge for some members, giving them the opportunity to co-create a virtual product with Nike.
In December 2021, Nike acquired RTFKT, a digital creator of virtual sneakers, collectibles, and accessories, signaling a significant investment in web3 and the Metaverse.
Nike had previously filed seven trademark applications related to the creation and sale of virtual sneakers and apparel. Analysts at Stifel have suggested that these strategic moves will accelerate Nike's expansion into potential NFT offerings.
In addition to that, Nike has partnered with the Roblox video game platform to create "Nikeland," a virtual world for Nike fans to play games, connect with others, and dress their avatars in virtual Nike apparel, including the Air Force 1 and Nike Blazer.
Nike is not the only brand exploring digital opportunities; in September, Walmart launched two new metaverse experiences on Roblox, and both Adidas and Dick's Sporting Goods launched stores, products, or experiences in the Metaverse last year.
