Binance, the world’s largest virtual asset exchange by volume and users, has named Stephanie Emile as its new General Manager for Dubai, effective August 2024. Emile brings extensive experience in digital and electronic trading systems and will be instrumental in driving Binance’s growth and operational capabilities in the region.
With a strong background in the financial sector, Emile has held key roles at BNP Paribas as Deputy Head of Electronic (eFX) Client and Digital Solutions, and at Barclays Capital, where she worked in client credit risk and FX. This experience has allowed her to transition seamlessly into the fast-paced virtual asset space, where she bridges client focus with cutting-edge technology, catering to both retail and institutional users.
Since joining Binance in 2022 as Head of Operations Dubai, Emile has set new standards for women in the blockchain industry. Her leadership in regulatory compliance and regional expansion was pivotal in securing the Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license from Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority. This milestone allows Binance to broaden its offerings, including margin, futures, and options trading, as well as lending, borrowing, and investment products for institutional and qualified users.
As the virtual asset industry continues to evolve and navigate complex regulatory frameworks, Emile has played a key role in establishing Binance as a compliance and innovation leader. The VASP license also enables Binance to offer fiat on-ramp services, addressing user concerns and fostering broader market adoption.
In her new role, Emile’s priorities will focus on institutional adoption, regulatory compliance, and educational initiatives like Binance Academy. She aims to expand service accessibility in the UAE while lowering barriers for new users and enthusiasts.
“I am honored to step into this new role at such a pivotal time for Binance. As we navigate the ever-evolving regulatory landscape, I look forward to leading our team of experts in driving innovation, exploring new growth opportunities, and expanding our offering in Dubai,” said Stephanie Emile, General Manager, Binance Dubai.
Her appointment highlights her ability to navigate complex challenges and drive transformation, positioning her as a key figure in Binance’s future digital finance efforts. Under her leadership, Binance is set to reshape the future of virtual assets and establish new industry standards.
