Coinbase has completed the integration of Deribit into its trading platform, combining spot, futures, perpetual futures, and options into a single ecosystem and connecting U.S. and international derivatives markets through a unified liquidity pool.
Coinbase has completed the integration of Deribit into its trading platform, bringing the Dubai-based derivatives exchange’s options infrastructure into Coinbase’s broader global trading offering.
The integration is part of Coinbase’s effort to build what it describes as a more comprehensive trading platform, combining spot, futures, perpetual futures, options, margin and other products across its global operations.
Coinbase said the integration of Deribit is now complete and that Deribit-powered options, spot margin and unified portfolios will be rolled out across its platform. The company also said the combined platform will connect U.S. and international derivatives markets into a single liquidity pool.
For institutional clients, Coinbase said U.S. institutions will be able to access Deribit’s options suite and perpetual futures through Coinbase Prime. Outside the U.S., Coinbase plans to make Deribit-powered options available to eligible traders in supported jurisdictions.
The integration also strengthens Coinbase’s connection to Dubai’s regulated virtual asset market through Deribit.
Coinbase acquired Deribit in a $2.9 billion deal announced in May 2025, bringing the major crypto options exchange into its global operations. Deribit FZE is registered with Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) and holds an active licence covering Exchange Services, including Exchange Traded Derivative Services, as well as Broker-Dealer Services.
VARA’s regulatory framework for virtual asset derivatives, introduced in 2026, provides a specific framework for licensed firms offering exchange-traded derivatives in Dubai. Deribit was among the major derivatives platforms operating within Dubai’s regulated market.
The VARA licence does not, however, serve as the regulatory basis for Coinbase’s derivatives offering in the United States. Coinbase said its U.S. derivatives products are offered through Coinbase Financial Markets, while global derivatives services in supported jurisdictions are provided through Coinbase Bermuda.
Instead, Deribit gives Coinbase an established regulated operation in Dubai alongside a derivatives platform with significant global liquidity and institutional market presence.
Deribit is particularly significant for Coinbase because of its position in crypto options. Coinbase said Deribit had more than $30 billion in Bitcoin options open interest as of September 30.
By integrating Deribit’s infrastructure rather than operating it as a separate platform, Coinbase is moving toward a more unified trading environment in which customers can access multiple asset classes and derivatives products through its broader ecosystem.
The company said the integration is intended to give traders access to deeper liquidity and a wider range of trading products while allowing institutions to manage spot and derivatives exposure through a more connected platform.
For Dubai, the development also highlights the growing role of the emirate’s regulated virtual asset market in the infrastructure of global crypto firms. Deribit’s VARA-regulated presence now sits within Coinbase’s broader international trading strategy as the exchange expands its derivatives offering across markets.
