Binance has made a $100 million equity investment in Circle, acquiring Class A common stock at a 5% discount to market price, and renewed a five-year partnership to expand USDC across Binance's global platform with a focus on emerging markets.
Binance is deepening its relationship with Circle through a $100 million equity investment in the USDC issuer, alongside a renewed five-year partnership aimed at expanding the stablecoin’s use across Binance’s global platform.
Under the expanded agreement, Binance will promote USDC across its international user base, with a particular focus on emerging markets. Circle, meanwhile, will provide infrastructure services supporting the custody and use of USDC across the platform.
The deal gives Binance direct exposure to Circle as the exchange moves to strengthen its role in the stablecoin ecosystem.
As part of the agreement, Binance purchased $100 million worth of Circle’s Class A common stock through a private placement.
The shares were acquired at a price representing a 5% discount to Circle’s market price before the transaction closed.
The investment comes as USDC continues to expand as a dollar-backed digital asset used across trading, payments and other financial applications.
Richard Teng, co-CEO of Binance, said the investment reflects the company’s long-term commitment to Circle and its stablecoin ecosystem.
“Circle has earned its place as one of the most credible issuers in the world spanning USDC, Arc and the infrastructure reshaping how value moves across borders,” Teng said.
He added that the five-year agreement is intended to support broader access to digital dollars, particularly through Binance’s global platform.
The renewed partnership places emerging markets at the center of Binance’s USDC strategy.
The exchange plans to expand the availability and use of USDC across its platform, while Circle will support the underlying infrastructure needed for users to hold and transact with the stablecoin.
The companies said the partnership could also support broader access to dollar-denominated digital assets for individuals and businesses in markets where access to traditional dollar-based financial services can be more limited.
Circle CEO and co-founder Jeremy Allaire said Binance’s global reach creates opportunities to expand the use of USDC for savings, investment and digital financial products.
“Together, we see incredible opportunities to leverage USDC to expand dollar access, support savings and investment with innovative digital asset products, and reach people and businesses throughout global emerging markets,” Allaire said.
The agreement comes as stablecoins increasingly move beyond their traditional role in crypto trading and into payments, transfers and broader financial infrastructure.
