Solana Incorporates Artificial Intelligence into Blockchain and Increases Grants Fund to $10 Million

The Solana Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to maintaining and advancing the Solana blockchain's foundational layer, made an announcement on May 23rd.

They revealed that they have incorporated artificial intelligence (AI) by utilizing a ChatGPT plugin developed by Solana Labs.

According to Cointelegraph, the ChatGPT plugin is now accessible for download on GitHub. Its purpose is to simplify the comprehension of Solana data and protocols, as well as to provide information about Solana's computing infrastructure and decentralized finance (DeFi) projects.

The current capabilities of the plugin encompass various functions, such as the ability to acquire nonfungible tokens (NFTs), transfer tokens, examine transactions, interpret public account data, and locate NFT collections on Solana based on their floor price.

Anatoly Yakovenko, the co-founder of Solana, emphasized the importance of developers considering how their applications will interact with AI models. He stated that this represents a novel approach to instructing computers on what tasks to perform, particularly for apps aimed at consumers.

In addition to the integration of AI, the Solana Foundation disclosed its decision to raise the funding for grants exploring the convergence of the Solana blockchain and AI.

The initial commitment of $1 million has now been increased to $10 million. Developers have already submitted 50 applications for the rolling grants program.

Furthermore, the Solana Foundation has initiated a three-month accelerator program specifically designed for university students. This program constitutes a complete cohort focused on exploring the possibilities of blockchain and AI.

Developers mentioned that the program received an overwhelming number of applications from projects and contributors. As a result of the AI-focused cohort, an ask Solana U chatbot has already been developed.

Within the Solana ecosystem, Hivemapper introduced AI Trainers in the previous month. These AI Trainers have the capability to transform real-world images into high-quality digital maps, encompassing detailed information such as speed limits, warning signs, and other street-related data. Following this launch, Solana developers report that protocol contributors have initiated 5.7 million AI training reviews, reaching a consensus on 500,000 objects.
