The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) is a federal executive department responsible for enforcing federal laws, representing the U.S. government in legal matters, and overseeing federal law enforcement and prosecution. Headed by the U.S. Attorney General, the department works to uphold the rule of law, protect public safety and safeguard civil rights. Its responsibilities include investigating and prosecuting financial crimes, fraud, money laundering, cybercrime and other offenses. In the digital-asset sector, the DOJ has pursued cases involving cryptocurrency-related fraud, illicit financial transactions, cyberattacks and the seizure and forfeiture of assets linked to criminal activity.
