According to Russian media outlet Vedomosti report on April 11, Telegram has launched a private beta testing of its Blockchain, the Telegram Open Network or TON. Sources in the report states the developer teams were able to set up TON Blockchain Nodes. Previously Cointelegraph has reported that Telegram would be launching a test version back in October 2018.
Telegram as we all know was founded by Nikolai and Pavel Durov in 2013, the service now has over 200 million active users. Telegram was one of the biggest ICOs with $1.7 billion raised in private ICO for telegram and TON platform.
Telegram aims to release TON which will process transaction faster than the Bitcoin and Ethereum blockchain. TON payments would use the cryptocurrency Gram and a wallet integrated with Telegram applications. TON combined with Telegram app could be a game changer for a more decentralized internet, People could send and receive P2P payments within encrypted telegram chats.
