Samsung announced native stablecoin support for Samsung Wallet at Galaxy Unpacked 2026 on July 22, with USDC expected among the first supported assets, potentially exposing hundreds of millions of Galaxy users to blockchain-based payments.
Samsung is bringing stablecoins directly into its mobile ecosystem. During Galaxy Unpacked 2026 on July 22, the company announced that Samsung Wallet will support native stablecoin payments, with USDC expected to be among the first supported assets.
The update places digital dollars alongside everyday wallet features such as contactless payments, boarding passes, loyalty cards, and digital IDs, potentially exposing hundreds of millions of Galaxy users to stablecoin-based transactions.
The stablecoin feature is part of Samsung’s broader strategy to transform Samsung Wallet into a comprehensive platform for payments, rewards, and digital assets. The company described the upgrade as a more secure and integrated experience for managing both traditional and blockchain-based financial services.
Although Samsung has not announced an official launch date, industry expectations point to USDC, Circle’s regulated dollar-backed stablecoin, as one of the initial supported digital assets.
Alongside the wallet announcement, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Card, a new credit card issued in partnership with Barclays and powered by the Visa network.
Initially targeting U.S. consumers, the card offers tiered cashback rewards and further expands Samsung’s ambition to build a unified financial ecosystem that combines traditional payment products with emerging digital asset capabilities.
Samsung’s latest move builds on its 2025 collaboration with Coinbase, which enabled millions of Galaxy users in the United States to access cryptocurrency services through their devices.
That partnership established Samsung’s presence in the digital asset space. With native stablecoin support, however, Samsung Wallet is evolving beyond basic crypto functionality into a more comprehensive financial platform capable of supporting everyday blockchain-based payments.
Despite the announcement, Samsung has yet to confirm which regions will receive the feature first. Stablecoin regulation continues to evolve across global markets, meaning compliance requirements could influence both the timing and geographic availability of the rollout.
The United States appears to be the most likely launch market, particularly as Samsung is simultaneously introducing the Galaxy Card through its partnerships with Barclays and Visa.
Unlike earlier crypto integrations that focused primarily on buying or holding digital assets through third-party services, native stablecoin support embeds blockchain-based dollars directly into Samsung Wallet's core experience. This represents a significant shift toward making digital assets part of everyday consumer payments rather than a separate investment product.
From Circle’s perspective, broader USDC distribution through one of the world’s largest smartphone manufacturers could further strengthen its competitive position as institutional and consumer adoption of regulated stablecoins accelerates.
Samsung’s announcement reflects a broader shift in the digital asset industry. Rather than promoting cryptocurrencies as speculative investments, major technology companies are increasingly positioning stablecoins as practical payment infrastructure. By integrating digital dollars into a wallet already used for everyday purchases and identification, Samsung is lowering the barrier between traditional finance and blockchain-based payments.
If the rollout expands beyond the U.S. and regulatory frameworks continue to mature, smartphone wallets could become one of the primary channels for mainstream stablecoin adoption. In that scenario, competition may no longer center on crypto exchanges alone, but on technology platforms capable of seamlessly combining payments, identity, rewards, and digital assets within a single consumer experience.
