Biography

Scott Thiel is a pioneering fintech entrepreneur democratising access to premium assets through regulated tokenisation. With over 25 years of legal and technology leadership, including 11 years as Global Head of IT and FinTech at DLA Piper, Scott has been at the forefront of blockchain innovation since 2017. As CEO and Co-Founder of Tokinvest alongside Matt Blom, Scott has achieved remarkable regulatory firsts: securing Dubai's first full-market VARA Broker-Dealer and Issuance Services licences, structuring the world's first debt tokenisation transaction, and launching multiple fully subscribed real-world asset products. Scott's influence extends beyond entrepreneurship. He won the mandate to develop the legal framework for Dubai's Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (VARA), establishing one of the world's most comprehensive digital asset regulatory regimes. He served as director of Hedera LLC for over five years and as Hbar Foundation board observer for two years. His achievements have earned consistent recognition: Financial Times' "Most Innovative Lawyers" (2019-2022), and Chambers & Partners' leading individual rankings for fintech and TMT.
